
Neelima Guna and her father, director Gunasekhar are currently working together for the upcoming much hyped big budget drama Shaakunatalam which has Samantha Ruth Prabhu in the lead role. Recently during the media interaction, as the part of the promotional activities, the father-daughter duo discuss how they strived to convey the essence of Kalidasa’s Sanskrit play Abhijnanasakuntalam while trying to make it appealing to a contemporary audience. Meanwhile, Gunasekhar also revealed that Samantha was not the first choice for this film Shaakuntalam.
Gunasekhar said that Samantha was not his first choice for this film but his daughter suggested Samantha’ name. After that Gunasekhar watched Sukumar’ magnum opus Rangasthalam and she was very impressed with the performance of Samantha who played village girl’s character. Later he decided to cast her. When he approached Rangasthalam lady, she gave the nod as well.
Dev Mohan is playing King Dushyant. Apart from the lead actors, the movie also has Mohan Babu, Kabir Bedi, Ananya Nagalla, Aditi Balan, and Allu Arha in key roles. The Telugu film Shaakuntalam will also release in Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi on April 14.
Yesterday the makers unveiled the video of one of the beautiful melodies titled ‘Mallika Mallika’ from the film.
