Meanwhile, the cyclone ‘Hamoon’, which formed in the Bay of Bengal, has turned into a severe storm over the northwestern Bay of Bengal in the early hours of Tuesday, IMAD said. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), ‘Hamoon’, centered over northwest and adjoining West Central Bay of Bengal, moved northeastward at a speed of 18 kmph in the last 6 hours. The low pressure formed in the Bay of Bengal strengthened into a severe cyclonic storm at 2:30 am on October 24 and centered in northwest Bay of Bengal 210 km east-southeast of Paradip in Odisha, 270 km southeast of Digha in West Bengal and 350 km southeast of Khepupara in Bangladesh, the IMD said.
