Hidimbha  Movie Review: Ashwin Babu, Nandita Shweta, Makarand Deshpande, and others starrer Hidimba, helmed by Aneel Kanneganti has hit the theaters. Let’s see the story of Hidimbha.

Story: IPS Aadya (Nandita Shweta) is a sincere officer. However, girls keep missing in Hyderabad. As sixteen missing cases are registered, IPS Aadya (Nandita Shweta) is coming from Kerala for investigation. ACP Abhay (Ashwin Babu) is also made part of this investigation team. What is the relationship between Aadya and Abhay?, Did Abhay give his cooperation to Aadya in the investigation of these missing cases?, or not?, What is the relationship between these missing cases and  the missing cases that happened in Kerala a few years ago?, To get these answers, one should watch Hidimbha on silver screen.

 Plus Points:

·         Ashwin Babu

·         Story

·         Performance

·         Cinematography

·         Second half

 Minus points:

·         Use of cannibalism element

·         Investigative angle lacks excitement

·         Extreme amount of violence

·         Dull narration

Performance: Ashwin Babu, acted brilliantly in his role.  His performance in some difficult hunting scenes is a special attraction of the movie. Nandita Shweta who played a pivotal role in the movie did full justice to her role. Her expressions in some emotional scenes are also good. Makarand Deshpande, who played another important role, also acted very well. Srinivasa Reddy’s punches are fine. Sanjay Swaroop, Rajeev Kanakala, Shizju and the rest of the actors who appeared in other roles also performed well within their scope.

Technical: Coming as an action thriller with a different concept, some scenes in the main sequence are interesting and impressive.  The cinematography is the highlight of this movie Hidimbha. Cameraman B Rajasekhar showed the mood in the scene especially in the action scenes with his camera angles. Also the background music by Vikas Badisa is also good. Editing is also good. The production values are impressive. Director Anil Kanneganti did a good job  but if he had written the play and made the film keeping in mind the audience of all sections, this film would have been on a different level.

Analysis:  Hidimbha is an action thriller drama.  Lack of interest in some scenes, and logic-less scenes are the minuses of the movie. Overall Hidimba movie is impressive with some action and thrilling elements.  The  missing logic in the main track in the second half are not good. The thrilling elements should be worked out effectively. But they are missing in some places in this movie. Overall, if the screenplay of this movie had been written more strongly, the movie would have been even better.
