A complaint has been filed against the makers of a Hindi short film for hurting the sentiments of the people of Odisha by portraying Lord Jagannath and Goddess Narayani in poor light. Debiprasad Dash, a lecturer in Jajpur district, demanded an apology from the film producer, director and OTT platform Disney+ Hotstar, which is streaming the shot film Miyan Biwi Aur Banana, which is helmed by Nina Srivastava.
The 20 minute comedy film Miyan Biwi Aur Banana released in 2019 and carries a social message on sanitary napkins. The movie made in 2019 is now streaming on the OTT platform of Disney Hotstar.The short film has Parul Joshi, Sonam Arora, Skye Lazure and Swapnil Shrirao in the lead roles.
Debiprasad Dash has filed a complaint against Disney Hotstar Studios, producer of the short film Karan Murakka and director Nina Srivastava in Citizen Portal of Odisha Police and said that the dialogues in this short film Miyan Biwi Aur Banana have shown our Lords in poor light. In a scene in the film, a mosquito has been called as Lord Jagannath and few derogatory words too have been used for the Lord Jagannath. The actress of this short film claims herself to be Narayani, the widow of Jagannath and mouths some unbearable dialogues.
