An ambulance carrying a patient caught fire and then exploded in Andhra Pradesh. One person injured in this incident and costing Rs. Tobacco stocks worth 40 lakhs were burnt. The incident took place yesterday in Rajasahebpet of Pamuru mandal of Prakasam district. P. Yesuraju of the village was suffering from kidney problems. A fire broke out in the driver’s cabin due to a short circuit while the 108 ambulance was on its way to the hospital for dialysis. Alerted by this, the ambulance pilot Tirupathi Rao stopped the vehicle and alerted EMT Madhusudan Reddy.

Immediately the patient inside and her mother were brought down. Immediately the oxygen cylinder in the ambulance exploded with the loud noise. As a result, the vehicle fragments fell in the farmer’s field of the neighboring village. Around Rs 40 lakh worth of tobacco stock stored there caught fire and were completely gutted. Sadhineni Varadaiah was seriously injured after being hit by vehicle fragments and was rushed to Ongolu Hospital.

 This incident sent panic among the people in this area. The fire tender rushed there but by that time the ambulance and the tobacco stock was gutted.  The three farmers who had stored the tobacco in a shed said they suffered a loss of Rs 40 Lakh.

 The case has been registered and the investigation regarding this incident  has been started.
