IND Vs SL:  Questions are being raised against the selectors over exclusion of top wicketkeeper-batsman Sanju Samson from the squad for the ODI series against Sri Lanka. Sanju, who was not included in the ODI squad against Sri Lanka, has only been included in the T20 squad. In this situation, Minister V Sivankutty has questioned the Indian team selection along with the fans. He responded through his Facebook post.

V Sivankutty’s Facebook post read: ‘Sanju Samson, a Malayali, is a player who can play in any position in the batting order. Sanju has been in brilliant form, including three fifties in the Ranji Trophy. The ODI World Cup is just months away. In this situation, there is a clear plan behind the exclusion of Sanju from the one-day series against Sri Lanka.

Due to the absence of Rishabh Pant from ODI squad as well, his omission from the team came as a significant shock.

Fans have doubts that Sanju Samson’ name is not in BCCI’s plans as the ODI World Cup is to be held in India next year. Despite scoring 3half-centuries in the ongoing Ranji Trophy, Sanju was not considered for the ODI format.  One of the netizen said: When BCCI was preparing T-20 team for WC 2022, they kept sanju samson for ODIs, now when they are preparing ODI team for WC 2023 they moved sanju to T-20 team. same on you. Another netizen said: Until the T20I World Cup, selectors thought Sanju Samson was better suited for ODIs than T20Is. After the World Cup, they think he is better suited for T20Is than ODIs. Strange! High time they gave him a fair run in both formats.

Former India pacer Ashish Nehra has also expressed his disappointment as he openly questioned the management’s selection tactics.
