Indian government has issued an order to ban 54 Chinese apps claiming that those applications pose a threat to national security. Some of them are, Beauty Camera: Sweet Selfie HD, Beauty Camera – Selfie Camera, Equalizer & Bass Booster, CamCard for SalesForce Ent, Isoland 2: Ashes of Time Lite, Viva Video Editor, Tencent Xriver, Onmyoji Chess, Onmyoji Arena, AppLock and Dual Space Lite and so on.

Already India banned 59 Chinese apps in June last year, such as Helo, TikTok and WeChat. Maximum apps banned in June were red-flagged by intelligence agencies over concerns that they were collecting user data. This was happened after 20 Indian soldiers and unspecified number of Chinese soldiers were killed during violent clashes in Galwan Valley in Eastern Ladakh amid border tensions with China.
In order to progress the ban on Chinese mobile apps, China resisted the decision of India and said, the plan of action was in violation of the WTO’s unbiased postulates. The government also banned 118 Chinese apps in September 2021.
