National Aeronautics and Space Administration- NASA has announced Indian-American aerospace industry expert AC Charania as its new chief technologist to serve as the principal advisor on technology policy and programs at agency’s headquarters in Washington.
AC Charania will align NASA’s agency wide technology investments with the mission needs across 6 mission directorates and oversee technology collaboration with the other federal agencies, the private sector, and the external stakeholders.
AC Charania becomes NASA’s new chief technologist, serving as principal advisor to theAdministrator Bill Nelson on technology policy and programs at agency’s Headquarters in Washington. Charania will lead the technology innovation.
AC Charania said, “The rate of the advancement we seek in 21st century is dependent upon selecting and maturing portfolio of the technologies into the systems to execute the missions. With this in mind, there are incredible opportunities in the partnerships within and outside of NASA- National Aeronautics and Space Administration. Now I look forward to the opportunity to work with the entire community to increase rate of space and the aviation progress.”
NASA associate administrator for technology, policy, and strategy- the Indian- American Bhavya Lal said, “ AC Charania is an experienced leader in the managing large, rapidly shifting technology portfolios.” Lal served as acting chief technologist prior to the appointment of Charania, whose first day working at NASA Headquarters was January 3.
