A new drone has been made available to the Navy to further enhance the capabilities of the Indian Navy. Chief of Naval Staff Admiral R Hari Kumar on Wednesday unveiled the specially designed Drishti 10 Starliner drone  for maritime surveillance. It is explained that this Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) has been specially designed in accordance with the requirements of the Navy. Harikumar said that with this drone, the surveillance capability of the navy will further increase.

Speaking at a program held at the Adani Aerospace Park in Hyderabad, he stated that the latest innovation will help to enhance the country’s capability in Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) operations and maintain India’s dominance in maritime waters. He said that India is taking fast steps towards self-sufficiency in ISR technology. He said that with the addition of ‘Drishti’, the capabilities of the Indian Navy will further increase and the Navy will gain more control in the field of surveillance and espionage.

Adani Group has started the first private manufacturing company in the defense sector in the small arms manufacturing sector in Hyderabad. Adani Group will also take over the responsibilities of manufacturing and operating the drones.  Adani Group said in a statement that it will take up the manufacturing and maintenance of drones domestically in accordance with international standards. Apart from manufacturing drones as per the requirements of the Defense Department, it is also said to be developing a counter-drone system.

When it comes to the special features of the Drishti drone, it has the ability to stay in the air for 36 hours at a time. Adani Group also revealed that this drone has been designed to carry a payload of up to 450 kg. It is said that this drone has been made to withstand weather changes on sea waters and take off in any weather.
