We had already reported that selections for the head coach are open and BCCI is working on the appointments. Now, from the latest update, it was known that Ravi Shastri has been appointed as the head coach for the Indian team and will remain in the position until the T20 World Cup of 2021. The declaration was given by Kapil Dev-led Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC).
One of the members of CAC Anshuman said that “Being a current coach, knowing the boys well, knowing the problems well, what has to be done. He was well versed with the system. Somebody knows the system and somebody who knows the players well has an advantage,”
Indian skipper and team captain Virat Kohli said, “With Ravi Bhai, all of us have a great camaraderie, everyone on the team shares mutual respect [with him]. And we have done well together as a group”.
On questioning to his response about Shastri’s selection Virat expressed his feelings as, “Yeah, we will be very happy if he is continuing as a coach, but as I said it is upon the CAC to seek my advice or opinion if they want. Right now, I haven’t been contacted at all. And I don’t know what is going to happen with the process.”
