In a massive crackdown against Kollywood top financiers, the Income Tax Department carried out raids across the state in the wee hours of Tuesday, 2nd august. IT investigators are raiding nearly 40 locations including 10 places in Chennai and 30 premises in Madurai linked to film financier Anbu Chezhiyan and places connected to him as well as a few other producers, including Kalaipulli Thanu.
10 locations related to Anbu Chezhiyan, who started off as a financier and now is a producer too, is under the IT scanner. The IT officials knocked the door of Anbu’s Nungambakkam residence at 5 am on Tuesday morning. This is the 3rd time he has been raided by Income Tax officials, and a few top film producers have also come under the scanner.
In Chennai and Madurai, IT department officials are conducting raids at his residence and offices. Around 40 places are being searched and the raids are being carried out at at least 10 locations in Chennai. The sources say that some top producers have also come under the scanner and raids are being carried out at their offices too in Chennai. The searches started at around 7 am in Madurai and Chennai, and police have been deployed at these locations.
