Justice S Abdul Nazir took oath as the new Governor of Andhra Pradesh on Friday. The oath event was held at Vijayawada Raj Bhavan. High Court Chief Justice Prashant Kumar Mishra administered oath to Justice Abdul Nazir. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy and Leader of Opposition Chandrababu Naidu attended the Governor’s swearing in ceremony. Other public representatives, senior government officials and judges also participated in the oath ceremony. After that, AP CM Jagan Mohan Reddy and Chief Justice Mishra gave bouquet to Governor S Abdul Nazir and congratulated him. 

Justice Abdul Nazeer, retired on 4th Januarythis year as a judge of Supreme Court, and he is the 3rd Governor of Andhra Pradesh. After bifurcation of the state, ESL Narasimhan had served as Andhra Pradesh Governor from 2nd June  2014 to 23rd July 2019. After that, Biswabhusan Harichandan from Odisha was appointed as Andhra Pradesh Governor, who continued in post for 43 months.

Justice Abdul Nazir’s native place is Beluvai village of Mudabidari Taluk, Karnataka. He was born on 5th January 1958.  He did his B.Com from the local Mahaveer College and then completed his law degree from Kodiyalbail SDM Law College, Mangalore.  Appointed as a judge of the Supreme Court in 2017, he continued as the  judge of the Supreme Court till 4th January this year.
