After the demise of former Tamilnadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, more than six biopics of Jayalalithaa have been announced in South Indian film Industry. However, only 2 of the 6 biopics seem to be progressing at a brisk pace. Recently AL Viajy made official announcement regarding Jayalalithaa biopic and confirmed the news that Kangana Ranaut will play the role Jayalalithaa and the movie is titled as Thalaivi. On the otherside, Mysskin’s assistant director Priyadarshini is also making a movie based on TamilNadu CM in which Nithya Menen will be seen playing the role of Jayalalithaa in The Iron Lady. Now a new biopic has also been announced, which is titled Sasilalitha. K Jagadeeswara Reddy is going to helm this biopic and he is planning to bring Kajol Devgn on the board to play the role of Jayalalithaa whereas Amala Paul as Sasikala.
It is heard that Sasilalitha will be made in two parts, and will tell the story of Jayalalithaa and her aide Sasikala, who is currently behind the bars.
Earlier K Jagadeeswara Rao also announced a biopic on NTR and his wife Lakshmi Parvathi but later the film was shelved. Recently during the media interaction, K Jagadeeswara Rao revealed that he is planning to rope Kajol to play the role of Jalalalitha in his upcoming directorial venture .
Ram Gopal Varma, Lingusamy, and Bharathiraaja are the other filmmakers who are interested to make a biopic on J Jayalalithaa.
Kajol is well known face for South Indian audiences as she made her Tamil debut with Minsara Kanavu in 1997. Last year Kajol Devgn was also seen playing the female lead in Velaiilla Pattadhari 2 in which Dhanush played the female lead.
In Bollywood, Kajol will be seen playing the role of Rani Lakshmi Bai in Ajay Devgn starrer Taanaji: The Unsung Warrior.
