Ponniyin Selvan -1 directed by the maverick filmmaker Mani Ratnam which was released few days ago, has turned out a money spinner at the box office. The big budget drama is continuing its rage at the box office.
The latest news is that Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan watched Ponniyin Selvan -1 last night along with Chiyaan Vikram and Karthi. Later, he interacted with the media and showered praises on the film. Kamal Haasan also congratulated the entire cast and crew for the grand success of the movie.
On the otherside, Kamal Hassan supported director Vetrimaran’s statement that Raja Raja Cholan was not a Hindu king and added that during the Chola era, there was no term called Hindu religion. There was Shivam, Vainavam, and Samanam, and it was Britishers who coined the term Hindu since they didn’t know how to refer to it collectively. It is similar to how they changed Thuthukudi into the Tuticorin.
Earlier, at an event, Vetrimaran had said, “Continuously, our symbols are being snatched from us. Saffronising Valluvar or calling Raja Raja Cholan a Hindu king is constantly occurring.
Ponniyin Selvan has Chiyaan Vikram, Karthi, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Trisha Krishnaa, Jayam Ravi and others in the important roles. AR Rahman provided the music for this film which is produced by Madras Talkies and Lyca Productions.
