On the other side, film critic Kathi Mahesh has given negative review on  Rangasthalam movie in his peculiar style. He criticised Sukumar’s story, screen play and direction saying it has no clarity and purpose. He also blamed music composer Devi Sri Prasad for the unimpressive background music and also for spoiling the album by his own singing. He said the film raises so many doubts on the director’s selection of 1980’s story though he appreciated the performances of lead pair- Ram Charan and  Samantha Akkineni.

He said, anchor Anasuya has played her character quite good and exactly related to her age and he  further said that movie starts with the voice over, but why voice over was taken?, as a director Sukumar have to know, why voice over put in the movie. Over all, Kathi reviewed Sukumar’s directorial venture Rangasthalam as a boring movie.
