Keeping in view the incidents that took place during Diwali in the past across the state, this year the AP Police has focused on the shops that manufacture/sell firecrackers. The police conducted a review with the higher authorities. Police Commissioners, District SPs to take strict legal action against shopkeepers who have held meetings with the management and stock firecrackers/tapas without permission in houses, shops, godowns in the middle of the community or have unauthorized sale of firecrackers without license even if they do not properly follow the rules and regulations prescribed by the police.
Rules to be followed:
1. Operators, manufacturers and sellers of fireworks storage centers must be licensed.
2. Fireworks manufacturing and storage centers should be at a certain distance from the residential areas of the people.
3. All fire safety precautions must be observed.
4. Those performing the above duties should have full knowledge of the measures to be taken in case of fire
5. Fireworks sales should be done at the places prescribed by the authorities away from residential areas, educational institutions and hospitals.
6. Minimum specified distance between firework shops should be arranged.
7. Fireproof cylinders, sufficient amounts of dry sand and adequate amounts of water should be available at every shop.
8. Minors shall not be employed at firecrackers stocking centers and in manufacturing or selling activities.
9. Licensees shall be fully responsible for any accident that occurs when licensed sellers sell to unlicensed persons.
10. Licensed vendors must display their license at the shop in a visible manner.
