On Friday Bengaluru City Police registered an FIR naming Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh, Congress social media head Supriya Srinate and Rahul Gandhi on charges of copyright infringement by using KGF 2 movie songs in its Bharat Jodo Yatra without permission from their owner MRT Music. In its complaint, the music company MRT Music. said it invested huge sums of money to acquire the rights of this songs in South Indian super-hit film KGF 2 in Hindi.
According to MRT Music, the Congress leaders picked up songs from the movie without seeking its permission and has used them to create marketing videos of the Bharat Jodo Yatra featuring Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.
Congress is accused of creating a video by unlawfully downloading, synchronising and broadcasting the KGF – Chapter 2 songs in Hindi.
The owner of music company said, Congress Party is violating the laws of the land and infringing our copyright and intellectual property rights, which they have acquired through huge investments. This act sends a completely wrong signal to the Indian public .
The Bengaluru-based company said it holds music rights of over 20,000 plus tracks in Kannada, Telugu, Hindi, and Tamil etc.
Lawyer Narasimhan Sampath said, the complaint has been filed against Rahul Gandhi, Supriya Srinate and Jairam Ramesh.
