We are almost halfway through 2023. We have seen some blockbuster films and some flops. All the entertainment started with Pongal movies. Movies like Waltair Veerayya and Varisu became Pongal winners with huge collections at the box office. Some of the films released in the month of April, Ugadi and Summer have also collected well at the box office. But here is the list of South movies of 2023 which grossed more than Rs 100 crores.
Chiranjeevi , Ravi Teja and Shruti Haasan starrer Waltair Veerayya released on Pongal 2023. Directed by KS Ravindra (Bobby), the film was a huge hit at the box office. The movie collected Rs 200 Cr+.
Nandamuri Balakrishna, Honey Rose and Shruti Haasan starrer Veera Simha Reddy was also released on Sankranti 2023. Directed by Gopichand Malineni, Veera Simha Reddy was a massive hit at the box office with gross collections of Rs 150+ crores.
Varisu starring Thalapathy Vijay with Tollywood producer Dil Raju and director Vamsi Paidipally, was also released on the eve of Pongal 2023 and became a hit. Ajith competed with Thunivu. It collected Rs 292 crore gross.
Ajit’s film Thunivu, helmed by H. Vinoth, the film failed to meet expectations. But it collected 196 crore gross at the box office.
Ponniyin Selvan 2 directed by Mani Ratnam was released amid huge expectations. The film collected 200 crore gross in four days and is still running successfully at the box office.
Dhanush and Samyuktha Menon starrer Vaathi (Sir in Telugu) directed by Venky Atluri, earned Rs 111+ crores at the box office.
Dasara starring Nani and Keerthy Suresh, directed by Srikanth Odela, was a massive hit at the box office. It collected Rs 118 crores gross.
