Vijay Deverakonda and Ananya Panday starrer Liger was released yesterday. The sports film, which is written and directed by Puri Jagannadh, had been making the right noise ever since its inception. Although the sport based drama failed to impress the audiences, Vijay Deverakonda’s act as an MMA boxer grabbed the attention. Liger, The Pan India film also has Ramya Krishna, Ronit Roy, Vishu Reddy, and Makarand Deshpand in the important roles. Did you know that Puri Jagannadh’ first choice for Liger was not Vijay Deverakonda. Puri initially planned to make the movie with Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu and he wanted to repeat the blockbuster magic of their film Pokiri. But Mahesh Babu rejected the offer and the role fell in the lap of Vijay Deverakonda.
The sources say that Puri Jagannadh initially planned Liger with Mahesh Babu in 2016 but due to some creative differences, it didn’t happen. Few months ago, Puri also announced Jana Gana Mana with Vijay Deverakonda. Both the movie were initially offered to Mahesh Babu.
In past Puri and Mahesh Babu have worked together for Pokiri and Business Man. And both the movies were blockbuster at the box office. On the otherside, Liger failed to perform well at the box office.
