Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy, Megastar Chiranjeevi starrer was one among the top releases of the year, which hit theatres  on 2nd October 2019. Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy  was the dream project of Chiranjeevi, which was helmed by Surender Reddy and  bankrolled by Mega Power Star Ram Charan under the banner of Konidela productions. The movie Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy was released in various languages and most recently, the Telugu version of the movie had made its television premiere. Reportedly, the film  Sye Raa was aired on Sun TV on the occasion of Sankranthi, and it fetched poor TRP ratings for its television premiere.

Chiranjeevi starrer Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy witnessed 11.8 TVR which is lower than what the film’s Tamil Television premiere had got 15.44 TVR when it was telecast on Sun TV. The  Telugu audiences didn’t show interest to watch Chiranjeevi starrer.

Tamil version of Chiranjeevi’s Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy has utterly failed to make it big on big screens with its Tamil Nadu distributors suffering huge losses. But it managed to fetch record TRP. On the otherside,  the Telugu version of Sye Raa which was hit at the box office, fetched poor TRP ratings.

Few weeks ago, Kichcha Sudeep, who has played one of the important roles in  Chiranjeevi starrer, opened up about the reason for the failure of Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy during the promotion of his Hindi movie Dabangg 3.  Baahubali star Sudeep said, “Sye Raa had a cultural problem. It was a biopic on Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy coming from the South.”

The movie Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy is based on the life of a freedom fighter from Rayalaseema, Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy. Reportedly, Narasimha Reddy was the first voice of revolt against the British rule in India. However, many historians claim that Uyyalwada Narasimha Reddy fought for his right for pension, nothing as massive as the film portrays. The movie also has Amitabh Bachchan aka Big B, Nayantara, Tamannah Bhatia,  Anushka Shetty, Jagapathi Babu, Sudeep, Niharika Konidela and others in the supporting roles.
