Lust Stories fame actress Bhumi Pednekar and Rajkummar Rao’ Badhaai do is based on the concept of lavender marriage. The recently released trailer shows Rajkummar Rao and Bhumi Pednekar’ characters, who are homos*xual, getting into a marriage of convenience to continue to stay with their respective partners.
Recently during the media interaction, Bhumi Pednekar spoke about her role and movie Badhaai Do, “I know it is a very sensitive movie. It is about two characters that have gotten into the lavender marriage setting but it is not a concept-driven film about a lavender marriage. Talking about playing a lesbian character on screen for the first time, and whether she had any apprehensions about it, Bhumi Pednekar said, “Playing a queer character was not a big deal for me, because I have grown up with some queer friends and with many people that belong to this community.”
Bhumi added, “When I see same s*x couples in real life, I do not see them from a different lens. There have been many stories that have come my way in the past, about characters that belong to the queer community. But the sensitivity with which the upcoming film Badhaai do has been written is something that really stood out.”
Bhumi Pednekar concluded it by saying that her team is trying to normalize the idea of homos*xuality because society is so uncomfortable with this.
