Mahanati– the biopic of yesteryear legendary actress Mahanati is gearing up for grand release on 9th May. The movie has already completed the censor formailites and received ‘U’ certificate from the members of Central Board Film Certification (CBFC). Runtime of Mahanati is locked to 2 hours and 56 minutes (176 minutes), a bit lengthy indeed.
Recently released Allu Arjun & Aue Emmanuel’s Naa Peru Surya (167 minutes) Ram Charan & Samantha Akkineni’s Rangasthalam (180 minutes) and Mahesh Babu & Kiara Adavani’s Bharat Ane Nenu (173 minutes) too have long duration (lengthy run time). All the three movie are running successfully and creating records at the box office.
The makers of Mahanati is confident on the content and hoping that run time will work in favour of the film. According to Nag Ashwin, Mahanati will cover the various stages of Savitri’s life from childhood to old age. The biopics, like Mary Kom and MS Dhoni, end on a high, but Nadigaiyar Thilagam/Mahanati is different.
Keerthy Suresh is playing Savitri whereas Dulquer Salmaan is essaying Gemini Ganesan. The film also marks the Tamil debut of Pelli Choopulu and Arjun Reddy fame Vijay Deverakonda. Samantha Akkineni is playing journalist. Vyjayanthi Movies and Swapna Cinema production’s production venture Savitri has other stars like Mohan Babu, Shalini Pandey, Krish, Prakash Raj, Tharun Bhasker Dhassyam, Rajendra Prasad, Malavika Nayar, Bhanupriya and others in supporting roles. The film has the music by Mickey J Meyer.
Savitri was a producer, director, singer and race car driver. She was the recipient of the Rashtrapati Award and was honoured at the International Film Festival of India.
