Telugu Film Industry is suffering its major loss since its inception. From the start of Telugu cinemas it hasn’t seen anything big disaster than this. Films shootings are halted for more than 40 days and theaters were shut down for the same period. Lock down is imposed until May 17th and it is sure that even after May 17th, lock down is lifted, shootings will not start immediately and theaters will not be opened any time soon. Massive loss is incurred due to this corona virus pandemic. Theaters owners are struggling to pay rents, electricity bills, maintenance, salaries to staff etc., without earning single penny. Daily wage workers are seeing their worst phase of life with no work since more than 40 days and they don’t know how long it is going to take.
Movie industry runs in a flow. Cash needs to be rotated between producers, financiers, distributors, exhibitors. Now with no cinema operations, everything is stalled. Which means that all are facing huge losses. Even there are nearly dozen movies in Telugu which are ready for release. All the films got postponed indefinitely and producers are bearing interests since lock down. It is estimated that till now Tollywood has suffered almost Rs. 400 Crore loss and it is only going to increase in coming days.
