Microsoft Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Satya Nadella‘s father Bukkapuram Nadella Yugandher has passed away in Hyderabad on Friday, following a brief illness. Yugandher was 80 years old and for quite some time he was suffering from the age-related ailment.
Bukkapuram Nadella Yugandher was an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer and he did work for the government of India. He had served in the Prime Minister’ Office under PV Narasimha Rao, and also as director of the Mussoorie based Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration. Yugandher hails from Anantapur and after his retirement, he was settled in Hyderabad.
Bukkapuram Nadella Yugandher was a member of the Planning Commission during 2004-2009 and was instrumental in ensuring the inclusion of a chapter on disability issues in the Plan.
It is yet to be known whether Satya Nadella will fly to Hyderabad for the last rites of his father Bukkapuram Nadella Yugandher or not.
After hearing the demise of Bukkapuram Nadella Yugandher, Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu tweeted, “Saddened by the demise of former bureaucrat Shri B N Yugandhar. He was an upright, committed officer. He worked for the upliftment of the marginalized sections of the society & to improve life in rural India. My heartfelt condolences to his family members. May his soul rest in peace.”
