Mithali Raj announced her retirement from T20 Internationals today. Senior woman cricketer Mithali Raj said, “After representing India in T20 internationals since 2006, I want to retire from T20Is as I want to focus my energies on readying myself for 2021 One Day World Cup. It remains my dream to win the World Cup for my country and I want to give it my best.
Mithali Raj added, “I thank BCCI for their continuous support and wish Indian T20 team good luck as they prepare for the home series against the South Africa Women.”
Senior India batswoman Mithali Raj has taken the decision to quit T20 Internationals after a career spanning 89 matches in which he scored 2364 runs and 17 half centuries.
The Jodhpur-born player, Mithali Raj has captained the country in 32 T20Is, including the three women’s T20 World Cups in 2012 (Sri Lanka), 2014 (Bangladesh) and 2016 (India). Mithali has also played in 10 Tests with 663 runs including a hundred.
She is the first Indian cricketer to reach the landmark of 2000 T20I runs.
Today on 3rd September, the veteran India batter, Mithali Raj has announced retirement from T20 Internationals, a format in which she signs off as the country’ leading run-scorer despite a controversy-ridden last leg.
