A video of some inmates celebrating after killing of two rival gang members in a jail in Punjab has recently sparked an uproar in the state. This incident came to light in Tarn Taran Jail. In connection with this incident, a total of seven policemen were suspended, including the superintendent of the jail, and the police arrested them.
Mandeep Singh and Manmohan Singh, accused in the gangster Sidhu Moosewala murder case, were killed in jail last week. They were killed in a clash between prisoners. Videos of some inmates celebrating by pointing at their dead bodies went viral on Sunday. Police were also seen standing a short distance from the dead bodies. Cases have been registered against seven gangsters in connection with this incident.
7 prison officials were suspended and five of them, including the jail superintendent, were arrested following viral clip which also showed gangsters pointing to the bodies lying on the floor with some on duty police personnel nearby.
Preliminary investigation by the police revealed that the murder took place in a clash between two gangs led by Jaggu Bhagwanpuria and Lawrence Bishnoila. The opposition parties have lashed out at the AAP-led government. After the incident, the accused were shifted to different jails by the jail authorities.
