Naga Chaitanya talks about portraying his grandfather, the legendary ANR garu in MahanatiNaga Chaitanya played the role of his grandfather ANR in Nag Ashwin‘s directorial venture Mahanati, the biopic of Savitri.

Mahanati has been running successfully at the box office and receiving applause from all corners. Akkineni Naga Chaitanya essayed the role of his grand father Akkineni Nageswar Rao aka ANR in Mahanati.  ANR shared the screen space with Savitri in several films including Missamma, Engal Veettu Mahalakshmi, Navaratri and the two of them also shared a good friendship off screen.

Recently during the media interaction Naga Chaitanya talked about portraying his grandfather, the legendary ANR garu in Mahanati. He said, “When Nag Ashwin contacted me regarding ANR role in Mahanati, I was very nervous and not ready to play the role of my grandfather, Akkineni Nageswar Rao, in Mahanati because I feared that I couldn’t do justice.  I gave several excuses to the director but finally Nag Ashwin convinced me about the role.  It  has hardly two minutes screen time.”

Naga Chaitanya said that he was happy to be in such a content-oriented film. Though the role was very small in the movie but it was very important from the story’s point of view.

Watch the video to know more #Mahanati.” After the release of Mahanati, Akkineni Nagarjuna also praised his son Naga Chaitanya and wrote on the wall of twitter, “Am today a proud father and a jealous son. I never played my father legendary #ANR Garu. But, I am overwhelmed and very happy to present to you all, Chay as ANR in #Mahanati”

Mahanati, starring Keerthy Suresh, Gemini Ganesan, Samantha Akkineni, Shalini Pandey, Vijay Deverakonda, Prakash Raj and others.

 On the workside, Naga Chaitanya is busy in his upcoming movie Savyasachi, directed by Chandoo Mondeti in which Nidhhi Agerwal is playing the female lead.  The actor will also be seen in Sailaja Reddy Alludu, being helmed by Maruthi Dasari. Anu Emmanuel who was last  seen in Allu Arjun starrer Naa Peru Surya, is playing the love interest of Naga Chaitanya in this film. Baahubali fame Ramya Krishna is playing  Sailaja Reddy.
