Netflix removes Nayanthara starrer Annapoorani 

It is known that Annapoorani, starring lady superstar Nayanthara is receiving huge backlash on social media for some of its ‘anti-Hindu scenes’. Annapoorani was released on December 1 and started streaming on Netflix on December 29.

A police case has also been registered saying that this movie hurts the sentiments of Hindus.  Netflix streamed the film in OTT. However, with the criticism pouring in on the movie, Netflix removed this movie Annapoorani from the OTT platform.

In this film, the daughter of a Hindu priest (Nayanthara) wants to become a great chef. As part of this, she participates in a national level cooking competition. In this competition, she cooks meat. This plot hurt the sentiments of Hindus. In many places, Hindu communities have complained to the police about the film.

Last Wednesday, Vishwa Hindu Parishad leaders protested in front of the Netflix office in Mumbai. They raised slogans against Netflix.  Finally, the movie was taken down by Netflix. Moreover, an FIR was also filed against the movie makers in Madhya Pradesh. Recently, the co-producers of the movie, Zee Studios issued an apology and clarified that Annapoorani was not intended to hurt the sentiments of Hindus and Brahmins.

In its notice, the production house clarified that Annapoorani will not come back on Netflix till the controversial scenes are edited
