Shaakuntalam starring South diva Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Dev Mohan is one of the most awaited films of the season. The periodic love tale of Shakuntala and Dushyant which was all set to be released on Valentines’ Day week, has been postponed. The team Shaakuntalam released a press note today morning to announce that Samantha starrer will be released later. A new release date will be announced in the coming days. The statement read: We regret to inform our audience that we would not be able to release Shaakuntalam this 17th of February.
The makers of Shaakuntalam have already released its trailer and three songs that have created a buzz in the market. Gunasekhar who is best known for helming Rudhramadevi himself had worked on its screenplay.
Shaakuntalam was all set to hit the theatres on February 17 but now it has been officially confirmed that the release of the film has been postponed. Gunasekhar’ magnum opus is based on the famous play Abhijnana Shaakuntalam by Kalidasa, whose epic love story can be seen in Mahabharata.
Shaakuntalam also has Aditi Balan, Gauthami, Prakash Raj, Mohan Babu, Kabir Duhan Singh, Ananya Nagalla, and Allu Arha in the important roles. Neelima Guna under Gunaa Teamworks produced this pan-Indian movie that will be released in the theaters in 2D and 3D formats.
