Stay on Rajinikanth director arrest

Pa Ranjith and Kollywood star Rajinikanth have worked together for Kabali and Kaala. Now according to the latest update, the Madurai Bench in the Madras High Court has ordered to stay Pa Ranjith’ arrest till 21 June. In its order, the Madras High Court also issued the stay while posting the hearing on his anticipatory plea for Friday.

A Hindu Makkal Katchi functionary had lodged a police complaint against Rajinikanth’ director Pa Ranjith, after which he was booked for under IPC section 153.

Recently Pa Ranjith who is the founder of the Nilam Panpattu Maiyam, had spoken about how the Dalit community had to struggle for land during the Chola emperor’s regime. He had also said that the Dalits were massively oppressed during the Chola rule, and that Devadasi system of dedicating the girls and women to the temples was prevalent during the reign of Raja Raja Chola.

A video of Pa Ranjith speaking about the Chola emperor went viral and following which a case was registered against him.

Former Thanjavur District Secretary of Hindu Makkal Katchi Bala had filed a complaint against Ranjith, following which the police registered a case. Bala alleged that the film maker Pa Ranjith’ remarks were an attempt to create the divisions among the castes and was against the sovereignty of the country.
