Hindi Medium actress Saba Qamar has been sent an arrest warrant along with some others by a Pakistan court for shooting a dance video at a historical mosque in Lahore.  Saba Qamar is known for  acting in late actor Irrfan Khan starrer Hindi movie Hindi Medium which was released in 2017.  She is one of Pakistan’s most popular and highest paid celebrities.

Lahore’s magisterial court issued the bailable warrants for Saba Qamar and singer Bilal Saeed for constantly avoiding the court hearings. Last year, Lahore police registered a case against Qamar and Saeed under section 295 of the Pakistan Penal Code for alleged desecration of Masjid Wazir Khan in city of Lahore.

According to the FIR, Saba Qamar had trampled upon the sanctity of the mosque by shooting a dance video, and this act also sparked an outrage among the Pakistani people.

Saba Qamar, whose work in Hindi movies received appreciation, had also done a biopic of social media sensation Qandeel Baloch.  The actress received death threats on social media for her un-Islamic action and she was also warned on the social media that she might face the fate of Qandeel Baloch, who was killed by her brother for disgracing family honor.
