Devoleena Bhattacharjee aka Gopi Bahu was held by Pantnagar police in the mysterious murder of businessman Rajeshwar Udani.
Devoleena Bhattacharjee and a politician, Sachin Pawar, were questioned in connection with Rajeshwar Udani’s murder case. Sachin Pawar was earlier a leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Both were grilled for several hours on Saturday by police in Ghatkopar three days after the missing body of Udani was recovered in the forests of adjoining Raigad district.
According to the police report, some more women from the film industry may be summoned for questioning.
The diamond merchant Rajeshwar Udani, 57, had been reported missing by his family from his office from 28th November. The police had registered a missing case and launched a search operation for him. His mobile was tracked in Rabale, Navi Mumbai, before its signal was lost. The police found his decomposed body, without any apparent injuries on 5th December.
The investigators suspect Rajeshwar Udani’s kidnappers may have killed him at some other location before dumping the body in the Panvel forests.
The Police investigations report revealed that Rajeshwar Udani was a regular at some bars and in touch with several women, including from film Industry, through Sachin Pawar, a former aide to a Maharashtra Minister, Prakash Mehta.
The police said that Sachin Pawar was tracked down to Guwahati, where he had reportedly fled after Rajeswar Udani’s murder and he was tracked by mobile records.
