A lecturer who was traveling in a car to reach his destination got stuck in the stream. He was saved by the police while hanging on to the branches of the tree to save his life.

The incident took place in Naguluppala Padu of Prakasam district where the lecturer, who left his hometown with the intention of reaching his destination by a short route, underestimated the flow of water and got stuck in the stream.

Gogineni Hanumantha Rao of Ommivaram village got stuck in the stream on Wednesday morning in Naguluppalapadu mandal. Hanumantha Rao, who is working as a lecturer in Darshi, was traveling in his car on the Nidamanur-Growth Center road when he failed to estimate the water depth of Hanumapuram brook in the suburb of Kottakota and was washed away along with the car for some distance in the flow of the brook water.

While the car was sinking, a sneeze caught hold of a tree and got stuck in the river. When the locals noticed the car washed away and told them to dial 112, the police immediately responded and reached the accident spot. After informing the higher authorities about the situation of Naguluppalapadu SSI, the district SP responded and sent a specially trained SWAT rescue team.

With the coordination of SWAT team, police and fire personnel, the person trapped in the water flow was rescued and brought safely to the shore. The victim, who was stuck in the river for two hours with his life in his palm, thanked the police for their quick response.
