On account of Manchu Vishnu completing one year as the President of Movie Artists Association (MAA), Manchu Mohan Babu arranged a press meet yesterday. During his interaction with the media, Vishnu said that he was responsible not only for MAA, but also for the audience and 90% of the promises made during MAA elections are also fulfilled as of now.
He said, “MAA has members who are not actors. We have taken decisions to be stern in terms of membership. Lead actors who acted in at least 2 films and if the movies are released, they have permanent membership in MAA. Character actors should have at least 10 films and with their screen presence for at least five minutes. Associate members should not vote. We have already informed the producers to offer roles to the members only and the producers’ council also considers our word. Actors or Members who post on social media against MAA will be removed from MAA permanently. A person who has 5 years of membership can contest in MAA elections.”
He continued saying, “We have introduced a book on how the majority of actors can get a chance to work. More than 10 actors have grabbed the chance already in films due to this. We are also working on the mobile app and it will come into effect after the coming Pongal. This application will have the information on latest film updates. Under the advisory of Padmasri Sunitha Krishnan, we are forming a committee to protect women members of MAA. Only the permanent members of MAA will have health insurance. We have cancelled the pension for around 6 people who are not MAA members recently. Members who are above 60 years of age and also financially poor, will get the pension through MAA”, Vishnu concluded.
