SS Rajamouli is a popular director and screenwriter of Telugu film, Industry. He is the highest paid director in India, and is known for his action, fantasy, and epic genre films. Rajiv Kanakala gave him the nickname Jakkanna while shooting for Student No 1. He is widely regarded as one of Indian cinema’s finest storytellers. Rajamouli is loved by many because of his larger-than-life films and humble nature. 

Rajamouli attended the Governors Awards in Los Angeles, a precursor event to the Oscars where many celebrities receive honorary  statuettes.  The pic of  Rajamouli from the award event is going viral on the social media. One of the fan said: Telugu Cinema on a global stage @ssrajamouli. Another fan tweeted: He has literally opened indian cinemas to Western markers. Another netizen also wrote: Proud of Rajamouli the man who told that Indian cinema has no barriers and who laid the foundation for big budget films and vision. If today PS-1 is there or Vikrant Rona or KGF series is there, it is due to path this man laid. A true masterpiece of film maker.

 His previous offering RRR had crossed several milestones this year, as  Jr NTR and Ram Charan starrer grossed over Rs 1000 crore globally. The movie bankrolled by DVV Danayya,  got raving reviews from several eminent filmmakers, including James Gunn and Scott Derrickson. However, it did not feature as India’s official entry to the Oscars. But the team is campaigning for the Oscars next year

Rajamouli made his directorial debut with Student No 1  which was released in 2001. The movie featured Jr NTR in the lead. Rajiv Kanakala essayed a role in Student No 1. His next project will be with Mahesh Babu.
