Rajiv Kanakala’s mother Lakshmi Devi Kanakala passed away at the age of 78 today morning. She was an acting instructor at a film institute along with her husband Devdas Kanakala and also appeared in few Telugu movies. She is popular for her role as Vijayashanthi’s mother-in-law in ‘Police Lockup’ and Rajendra Prasad’s mother in ‘Kobbari Bondam’.
She started acting dramas at the age of 11 and also trained many artists like Subhalekha Sudhaka. She was suffering from multiple age-related illnesses for quite some time. She is survived by her husband Devadas Kanakala, son Rajeev Kanakala, daughter-in-law Suma and grandchildren.
Movie Artistes Association (MAA) President Sivaji Raja and Secretary VK Naresh expressed their condolences at Lakshmi Devi’s demise.
