On several occasion, Rajamouli has said that he would need at least ten years to complete the project. Rumors also suggested that Rajamouli wanted Big B aka Amitabh Bachchan to play Bheeshma, Aamir Khan to play Arjuna and Katrina for Draupadi’s role. But in 2017, Rajamouli has said, “ I am not making Mahabharata. I just said that my dream is to make Mahabharat but it is a long time to get to that.” Rajamouli attained global acclaim by creating ‘Baahubali series’- Baahubali: The Beginning and Baahubali 2: The Conclusion— which went on to become India’s biggest blockbuster. Now according to the latest update Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra is all set to direct a film on Mahabharata.

During the promotions of Secret Superstar Aamir Khan had also admitted that he has a dream project and that was to make a movie on Indian epic Mahabharata.
On the other-side, SS Rajamouli is currently working with RRR starring Ram Charan and Jr NTR, which will hit the theaters on 30th July 2020.
