Priyanka Chopra is one of those few people who made a name for themselves very early in their lives. She became Miss World at the age of 17 and later she tested her luck in Film Industry and delivered several successful movies. She has also shared the screen space with Ram Charan in bilingual Telugu and Hindi movie ‘Zanjeer’ in 2013. She has also established her name internationally and is known for her work in the show, The Quantico. Currently she is busy in her upcoming Hollywood projects. But even after achieving so much and having a fan base that is spread across the world, a few Congress leaders in Assam want her to be removed as the brand ambassador of the state. The reason? They feel her photos on the New Year calendar printed by Assam Tourism shows her “inappropriately dressed”.
Recently the Congress legislators, including Nandita Das and Rupjyoti Kurmi raised objections during the ongoing session of the Assam legislative assembly to a photograph of Priyanka Chopra in ‘minimal clothes’ as featured in a calendar of the Assam Tourism Development Corporation (ATDC) and demanded that she be removed as the brand ambassador of Assam tourism. They felt, that her revealing clothes will bring defame to the culture of Assam state. Congress leader and Assam’s Leader of Opposition Debabrata Saikia said that it would have been better if brand ambassador wore traditional Assamese dress instead of a “frock”.
This isn’t the first time that Priyanka has come under attack for her dress sense. Last year, she was also trolled for sporting a tricolour scarf on the occasion of India’s 70th Independence Day.
