Ramanand Sagar’ popular TV serial Ramayan has created viewership records after the show became the most viewed entertainment programme globally on 16th April in the 9 pm slot. Ramayan has now become the most watched show with 7.7 crores viewers.
The official twitter handle of Doordarshan India confirmed this news “Rebroadcast of Ramanand Sagar’ Ramayan on DD smashes viewership records worldwide, and the show becomes the most watched entertainment show in the world with 7.7 crores viewers on 16th April.
Ramayan is being telecast again since 28th March on public demand. In fact, when Ramayan was telecast for the first time, the serial had crushed all records of popularity, and once again it has repeated history.
First time, Ramayan was broadcast from 25th January, 1987 to 31st July, 1988. Every Sunday, at 9.30 am the show was aired on Television.
From 1987 to 1988, Ramanand Sagar’ epic show Ramayan became the most watched serial in the world. Till June 2003, the epic serial Ramayan of Ramanand Sagar remained recorded in Limca Book of Records as “the most watched mythological serial in the world.
Ramayan concluded on 18th April and it was replaced with Uttar Ramayan, that features the story of Ram and Sita’s kids Luv and Kush.
