It is known that PAN Indian blockbuster RRR, helmed by SS Rajamouli is surprisingly available in IMAX aspect ration on Netflix. This is a first as other Indian IMAX movies like Saaho and Baahubali 2 were released everywhere as cropped only while Netflix acquired the IMAX rights for this blockbuster. Now the CEO of IMAX Richard Gelfond has shared some interesting things about this Rajamouli directorial venture starring Young Tiger Jr NTR and Mega power star Ram Charan. He said that the local language films, such as RRR from the India and Dragon Ball Super from Japan, have shown a significant increase in revenue from the IMAX format.
Richard Gelfond wrote: Local language films such as RRR from India and Dragon Ball Super from Japan demonstrated an increase in local film exportability. Global IMAX revenue from Local language films increased to 35 percent this year, up from 2 per cent in 2019. Local language films for approximately 30 per cent of IMAX’s Worldwide box office.
RRR was made on a budget Rs 550 crore. Produced by DVV Danayya under the banner of DVV Entertainment, it also stars Alia Bhatt, Ajay Devgn, Samuthirakani, Olivia Morris, Shriya Saran and others. It received a very positive response on its release day.
On the otherside, Rajamouli has teamed up with Mahesh Babu for his next project.
