Rudrangi Movie Review: Mamta Mohandas, Vimala Raman, Jagapathi Babu,  Ashish Gandhi, Ganavi Laxman, and others starrer Rudrangi, helmed by Ajay Samrat, has hit the theaters today on 7th July. Let’s see the story of Rudrangi.

Story: The film is set in the 1940s and is about Bheem Rao Deshmukh (Jagapathi Babu), a cruel man who has a passion for women,  and rules the people of his region without any mercy.  The movie revolves around the love between childhood sweethearts Mallesh (Ashish Gandhi) and Rudrangi (Ganavi Laxman), who find themselves entangled in a complex rivalry involving Bheem Rao Deshmukh and his dissatisfied second wife, Jwala Bhai (Mamta Mohandas).

Plus points:

·         Jagapathi Babu performance

·         First Half

·         Interval block

 Minus Points:

·         Lack of emotional depth

·         Second Half

·         Action block

·         Climax

Performance: The versatile actor Jagapathi Babu delivers superb performance in the role of Bheem Rao Deshmukh, who is ruthless, and menacing.  Although he has done many films in roles with a negative shade, in this film, he has nailed it equally brilliantly.  His performance is clap worthy in many scenes. Ashish Gandhi also gives a good performance. The heroines Mamta Mohan Das, Ganavi Lakshmi and Vimala Raman who play another key role impress in their roles. The entire second half revolves around Ganavi Lakshmi’character. Vimala Raman is fine in her limited role. Mamata Mohan Das as Jwala Bhai highlights in the interval block.

Technical:  The story of Rudrangi  is interesting. Music by Ais Nawal Raja and cinematography by Santhosh Shanamoni are impeccable. And when it comes to director Ajay Samrat, he has done good job.  The way Ajay Samrat has written the character of Bheem Rao is superb.  Though he handled all the things well till the first half but he faltered in the second half. This film would have been a complete package if it had been handled properly there as well. The production values are very good. The action sequences by Ram Sunkara and Jashuva, are just ok.

Analysis: Overall, Jagapathi Babu is seen as a one-man show in Rudrangi.  Mamata Mohandas and Ganavi also deliver good performances. The movie is interesting and engaging till the first half. But the real problem starts in the second half. This slows down the proceedings. Also, the main theme of the movie seems to have gone sideways. The story slows down in the second half which makes the movie boring. Along with these, the proper emotions are also missing in Rudrangi. It’s okay to some extent but it would be better to show some scenes better and faster.
