Samantha Akkineni won the hearts of her fans with the web drama The Family Man 2 in which her character had negative shades. She was seen playing the role of Raji. Due to controversy surrounding the web series and lockdown, Samantha had not stepped out to promote the web drama which also had Manoj Bajpayee and national award winning actress Priyamani. Now according to the latest update, Samantha has decided to get back to work. Now she is in action mode. The sources say that Samantha will join the sets of her upcoming much hyped movie Shakuntalam from the first week of July.
Helmed by Gunasekhar, the film is based on a Sanskrit play by Mahakavi Kalidasa, has Samantha playing Shakuntala. Gunasekhar is planning to cast either icon star Allu Arjun’ son or Jr NTR’ son in the role of young Bharat, son of Shakuntala and Dushyant.
Gunasekhar’ directorial venture Shakuntalam will focus on the love story of King Dushyant and Shakuntala, daughter of sage Vishwamitra and Apsara Menaka. Dev Mohan has been roped in to essay the role of Dushyant.
On the otherside, Samantha will also be seen in Tamil movie Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal, directed by Vignesh Shivan. The movie also has Vijay Sethupathi and Nayanthara in the lead roles.
