Tennis star player Sania Mirza has decided to give up her participation as a Tennis player and she revealed the news to the public. Sania said, “There are few reasons for it. It is not simple as ‘okay Iam not going to play’. I do feel my rehabilitation is taking longer, I’m causing troubles to my 3-year-old son by travelling many number of times with him, that’s something I have to consider as one of the reasons. I think my body is wearing down. I was very much agitated with my knee, it is taking a long time to recover as I’m getting older.”
She told, the energy is not the same anymore, she will play until she enjoy the experience. However, she announced the news after she lost an opening-round in the women’s doubles at the Australian Open along with Ukrainian partner Nadia Kichenok.
Sania Mirza is the highest ranked female tennis player ever from India, with a career high ranking of 27 in singles and 18 in doubles. Sania has made her mark on the international circuit as one of India’s most grand slam-winning tennis players, along with Mahesh Bhupathi and Leander Paes.
She played her maiden international tournament in 1999 when she represented India at the world Junior Championship at Jakarta. She was named one of the ’50 Heroes of Asia’ in October 2005. And, in 2016, she was named in the 2016 list of the 100 most influential people in the world.
