SC issues showcause notice to Baba Ramdev against his mock ads

On Tuesday, Baba Ramdev received a showcause notice from the Supreme Court, over ambiguous advertisements that are being published by Patanjali and the court asked him to appear before it. Claiming ‘Consequences will follow’, Supreme Court said that it took a vigorous peculiarity to Patanjali Ayurveda and its MD Acharya Balakrishnan for not presenting retaliation on disgust sue.

Pertaining to advertising of the company’s products and their medicinal value, the Supreme Court instructed Ramdev and Balakrishnan to appear before it and reply to contempt proceedings. Proclaiming a defamation campaign by the yoga guru in opposition to the vaccination drive and novel medicines, the apex court was hearing a solicitation of the Indian Medical Association (IMA).

It is said by the bench that all illegal and misleading advertisements of Patanjali Ayurveda should cease on the spot. The court will take such infringements very sternly and will take imposing costs of up to Rs 1 crore on every product into account, according to which an erroneous affirmation is made that it can cure a specific disease.
