Last week IT department held raids at Sonu Sood’s residence and office spaces in Mumbai. After three days of raids, the IT department issued a statement that Sonu Sood had evaded tax of over Rs 20 crore and regarding his foundation, just Rs 1.9 Cr was spent on donations of Rs 18 Cr. Finally Sonu Sood broke his silence on tax raids at his Mumbai home and offices last week and allegations of tax evasion, as he said today that every rupee in his foundation was awaiting its turn to save a life. He made comments on Income Tax department, by saying that he had been busy attending to guests for four days.
Sonu Sood released a statement that read: Every Rupee in my foundation is awaiting its turn to save a precious life and reach the needy. I have encouraged brands to donate my endorsement fee for the humanitarian causes too, which keeps us going. I have been busy attending to a few guests hence was unable to be at your service, for the last four days. Here I am back again in all humility.”
The sources say that IT raids were launched to investigate a deal between Sonu Sood company and a Lucknow based real estate firm.
