Venkatesh Daggubati was last seen in multistarrer Venky Mama, which turned out to be a mediocre film at the box office. Currently he is busy in his upcoming Telugu film Naarappa, which is remake of Tamil revenge based drama Asuran and is being directed by Srikanth Addala. Venkatesh is reprising the role of Dhanush from the original. The shoot of this action entertainer is temporarily stalled due to the Corona lockdown. It is being heard that Srikanth Addala has taken special care in executing the action part in Venkatesh starrer Naarappa , and those who happened to see the rushes are already lauding the director’ treatment in these scenes.
Naarappa also has Priyamani in the female lead in this film which is jointly bankrolled by Suresh Babu and Tamil producer Kalaipuli S Thanu. The story of Naarappa is set in Ananthapuram. The rumors are rife that the movie is loosely based on the Karamchedu massacre that took place in 1985. However, the makers have not shed any light yet on whether Venkatesh starrer is based on the Karamchedu massacre.
