Samantha Ruth Prabhu is playing the titular role in an upcoming film Shaakuntalam which is helmed by Gunasekhar. She plays the beautiful daughter of Menaka and Vishwamitra, straight from the pages of Kalidasa. Going by the new poster shared by the team of Shaakuntalam, it featured Samantha Ruth Prabhu in her most ethereal self in what looks like an epic retelling of a chapter from the Mahabharata.
In this film Samantha will be seen wearing a lot of jewellery in the film. The makers collaborated with Vasundhara Diamond Roof for the film. The jewelry is designed by Vasundhara Jewels. Samantha Ruth Prabhu used the jewelry imported from Amsterdam.

Tipped to be a high budget film, Shaakuntalam has been directed by Gunasekhar, who is best known for his epic period drama Rudhramadevi with Anushka Shetty. It is produced on a massive budget by Neelima Guna, and will be released in Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada. Samantha and Dev Mohan starrer will hit the screens worldwide on February 17.
In Tollywood, Samantha was last seen in Pushpa, in which she danced to the widely popular song, Oa Antava.
