The court sentenced TDP leader Vinod Kumar Jain to life imprisonment in the girl’s suicide case that created a sensation in Bhavanipuram, Vijayawada. Also, the POCSO Court issued a final judgment imposing a fine of Rs.3 lakh and sentenced to life imprisonment under Section 305. Under Sections 9 and 10 of the POCSO Act, seven years rigorous imprisonment has been imposed. Last year, a girl committed suicide by jumping from her apartment after being s….xually harassed by a TDP leader in Bhavanipuram. Investigation revealed that the girl was molested by Vinod Jain at a local Lotus Legend apartment. Unable to tell anyone about his harassment, the girl committed suicide. Moreover, it mentioned Vinod’s atrocities in the suicide note. This incident created a sensation at that time.
During the investigation, the cop found a note in the girl’s schoolbag accusing TDP leader Vinod Kumar of harassing her while she was using the elevator and playing in the cellar.
NTR district Police Commissioner Kanthi Rana Tata said the former Telugu Desam Party- TDP leader and 37th division corporator candidate Vinod Kumar was arrested on 30th January, 2022 for harassing the minor girl by touching her inappropriately and forcing her to end the life (suicide) by jumping from the five storey Lotus Legend Apartments at Kummaripalem, in which she resided.
