Telangana Chief Minister KCR– K Chandrashekhar Rao announced a 10 day statewide lockdown in view of the sudden surge in coronavirus cases. The lockdown will be implemented from tomorrow i.e 12th May till 22nd May. However, there would be relaxation for all the activities from 6am to 10am daily and after that everything is shut.
The Cabinet decided to call for global tenders for the purchase of the vaccine. Only essential activities will be allowed for the remainder of the Coronavirus lockdown. If the new Coronavirus cases come down, then the state government will lift the lockdown, if not the lockdown would be extended all the way to May ending.
Last week, CM KCR had ruled out imposition of lockdown in Telangana state saying that it would have affected the livelihoods of several people apart from impacting the state revenues. CM had also said that in other states despite clamping the lockdown there was no improvement in the situation and +ive cases have not come down. All southern states except Andhra Pradesh and Telangana have imposed complete lockdown.
While Andhra Pradesh has been implementing partial lockdown from 12 noon to 6 am, Telangana had been implementing night curfew for the past 2 weeks.
