Telangana ranks first in the country in the recovery of lost and stolen cell phones. Police recovered 10,018 smart phones in 190 days.
Telangana stands first in the country in recovering stolen phones. Thieves usually target crowded areas and steal purses and cell phones. However, lost wallets and money may not be found, but cell phones are not. A lost cell phone can be traced and located in a very short time using modern technology. But now Telangana police using the same technology has created a record by recovering lost phones.
Telangana tops all states in the country in recovery of lost and stolen cell phones through the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal. According to CEIR data, Telangana police recovered 39 percent of the phones in Telangana. But this recovery operation was led by CID Additional DG Mahesh Bhagwat. On this occasion, DGP Anjan Kumar Yadav congratulated the police team and wished them well. Police recovered 10,018 smart phones in 190 days. In the last 14 days, 1000 smart phones were given to the owners.
After Telangana, Karnataka stood second with 36 percent recovery. After that, Andhra Pradesh stood third with 30% recovery. While the police blocked around 86,395 smart phones from April to October 2023, out of which traceability reports were received for 25,598 phones and 10,018 phones were unblocked, the police said.
